Our friends Raise The Bar Poetry are back for their fourth year with Freedom Of Mind. We’re super excited to collaborate with them again to bring you a night of spoken word themed around the topic of mental health.
Raise The Bar host South West’s largest spoken word poetry events, showcasing the country’s finest performers and hottest new talent. This year we’re hosting two events, a 1-hour workshop and then the main show.
Writing and performing poetry about mental health and other stigmatised subjects can be a powerful tool, both for the writer and the audience. Prior to the main show, event host, workshop facilitator, and spoken word poet Danny ‘Craft-D’ Pandolfi will lead a workshop session. During the workshop you’ll gain useful writing prompts and exercises, to bring your personal stories to the page in a safe, relaxed and engaging way.
Doors open for the workshop at 6.10pm and the workshop will last up to 1 hour.
The main show will bring together a mixture of local, talented individuals who use poetry as a tool to express their experiences with mental health. This year, we’ll be welcoming the fantastic writer and performer, Shaun Hill, who will be coming from Birmingham to headline. Local poets confirmed include Helen Sheppard, Caleb Parkin and Tierney Elliot, and more to be announced. It’s sure to be an engaging evening!
Doors open for the main event at 7.20pm.
These events always sell out quickly so don’t wait around!
